Planning for future landscape management

The regional plan for the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board is undergoing review, with community input being sought.

The plan, which sets the five-year direction for landscape management for the region, is reviewed and updated every five years.

It guides how the Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board safeguards Eyre Peninsula’s natural and productive environment in partnership with the local community.

Eyre Peninsula Landscape Board general manager Jonathan Clark said the new plan was an opportunity to make sure the board’s actions continued to meet the changing needs of the diverse landscapes and the people who care for them.

“Under the Landscape South Australia Act 2019, we have statutory requirements in relation to managing declared plant and animals, land protection and management, and water planning and management,” he said.

“During the review of the plan, we want to hear from our broader EP community including our youth, who will be the future guardians of our region.

“We’d like to know what the community sees as changes that will challenge the management of soil, water, coasts and biodiversity during the next five years.”

The board is undertaking a stakeholder workshop with local government representatives in September and will also speak to a range of Eyre Peninsula people in one-on-one interviews as part of the review process.

Everyone in the community can have their say on the local landscape management challenges and priorities by visiting yoursay.sa.gov.au/ep-regional-landscape-plan-2025

This includes community surveys – one for adults and one for youth.

The YourSAy consultation will be open until Friday, September 26.

This draft will be shared for the second and final round of community consultation in January/February 2026 (for a six-week period).

After this, the final draft plan will be presented to the Environment Minister for approval, for implementation from July 2026.
