Massey Ferguson 9S delivers high horsepower and smarter technology for EP conditions

Farming across Eyre Peninsula means working with a wide variety of soils and conditions.

Long seeding runs and tight seasonal breaks place pressure on machinery to deliver consistent draft performance, reliable hydraulics and efficient fuel use.

The newly released Massey Ferguson 9S is built for high-horsepower broadacre systems, ranging from 285hp to 425hp.

Powered by an 8.4-litre, six-cylinder AGCO Power engine, it produces strong torque at lower engine speeds, making it well suited to deep ripping sandy rises, primary tillage and pulling large air seeders and cultivation bars.

Engine Power Management provides additional output under load, supporting transport and other high-demand applications common across wider EP programs.

Matched with the Dyna-VT continuously variable transmission, operators can hold accurate ground speeds without manual gear changes.

For Eyre Peninsula growers, maintaining steady forward speed during seeding is critical for even seed depth and fertiliser placement, particularly in variable soil conditions.

WSB Jamestown branch manager Nigel Hillam said recent local demonstrations highlighted the tractor’s ability to maintain performance in any conditions.

“Eyre Peninsula growers are focused on efficiency and reliability. The 9S has shown it can hold speed under load and stay simple to operate,” he said.

The Protect-U design separates the cab from the engine, reducing heat, noise and vibration during long days in the paddock.

Inside, the Datatronic 5 terminal and MF vDisplay provide straightforward access to guidance, headland management and implement control.

Hydraulic capacity supports high-demand air seeders and modern equipment, while the optional Central Tyre Inflation System allows operators to adjust tyre pressures from the cab – helping reduce compaction in lighter soils while maintaining traction.

For Eyre Peninsula conditions, the 9S delivers practical horsepower and technology backed by local support through WSB.
