The Ceduna branch of the South Australian Country Women’s Association (SACWA) celebrated its 92nd birthday at the August meeting.
The meeting was hosted at the Anglican Church Hall on Tuesday, August 12.
Members were asked to arrive by 11.30am so lunches could be ordered from Oyster Barn and Claire Collins brought them back as everyone celebrated the birthday.
Kath Dunn had made a birthday sponge cake as a surprise for sweets, which everyone enjoyed.
President Jenny Skinner welcomed six members and accepted three apologies from Judy Gregory, Riza Broad and Amanda Hoffrichter, then the creed was recited.
Three members are going to Streaky Bay for the SACWA Far Western Group annual general meeting, where the closure of the group will be discussed.
Claire told of the crafts for 2025-26, which are crazy patchwork, book cover, entrelac knitting scarf and colour work of a Christmas hanger.
The roll call was a memorable birthday celebration, which led to amazing stories being told.
Annette Moyse and Claire judged the competitions.
Finishing on 10 points in the craft competition were Kath and Elaine Kloock, with Annette on eight.
Jenny and Annette had 10 points for the bloom competition, with Kath on nine.
The next meeting will be on Tuesday, September 9 at 1.30pm – all are welcome to attend.
Kath took a piece of birthday cake to member Joyce Chandler, who is at the Far West Senior Citizens Village.
Joyce was delighted with the surprise.
