Livestock SA collaborate for two-day event

Livestock SA has announced a collaboration with Meat and Livestock Australia (MLA) and the University of Adelaide to deliver two days of industry events in South Australia on November 19 and 20.

The program offers producers an opportunity to connect with research, innovation and key industry updates in a single trip for SA livestock producers.

The program will begin on November 19 with a field trip and lunch at the university’s Roseworthy campus to showcase new sheep and cattle yards, projects on drought resilience and livestock wellbeing, alternative shearing technology, and a range of projects that have been funded by the SA Sheep and Cattle Industry Funds and the MLA Donor Company.

Later that day, Livestock SA will host its annual general meeting followed by the annual Livestock SA Industry Dinner, with welcome drinks supported by MLA.

The annual flagship MLA Updates event will follow on November 20, starting with a forum on key industry issues with Red Meat Advisory Council members.

A range of showcases and practical demonstrations from MLA’s research development and adoption, marketing, and integrity systems company teams will be on display.

Livestock SA chairperson Gillian Fennell said the collaboration brought together national and state investment, and local innovation that drove a profitable and sustainable SA livestock industry.

“We are pleased to be working with MLA and the University of Adelaide to create two valuable days that give producers access to both research and practical information, alongside opportunities to engage with peers and industry stakeholders,” she said.

“South Australian livestock producers have weathered some of the toughest drought conditions in decades, and opportunities to reset, regroup and refocus are important.

“The two-day program is designed to inform, inspire and connect. It is a great opportunity to access the latest industry insights, tools, technologies and achievements. We will provide members and industry stakeholders with more details soon but mark it in your calendar now.”

Registrations for all the activities are available through the MLA website at updates.mla.com.au
