Smarter farming for tougher seasons: What the PTx Trimble partnership means for South Australian growers

AGCO and Trimble have joined forces to form PTx Trimble – a new venture offering precision ag solutions tailored for real-world farming.

For South Australian growers, this means more flexibility, better efficiency, and support in managing climate challenges.

By combining AGCO’s JCA Technologies with Trimble’s precision ag expertise, PTx Trimble delivers tools that work across mixed machinery fleets.

Farmers do not have to overhaul their gear – they can build on what they already have.

WSB Distributors’ group sales manager Corrie Eichner said flexibility is the key.

“This is about helping farmers get more from their existing setup – and that’s what PTx Trimble is focused on,” he said.

Some standout tools already making an impact include:

• EZ-Pilot® Pro for hands-free steering during sowing and spraying.

• WeedSeeker® 2 for targeted spraying, reducing chemical waste.

• OutRun™ Autonomous Grain Cart to run harvester and chaser bin with one operator.

• WM-FieldForm® and smart irrigation systems, helping manage water more efficiently.

• PTx Trimble Ag Software, bringing together data from different machines for clearer decision-making.

Corrie said the power is in the data.

“It’s not about being tech-savvy. It’s about getting answers to simple but important questions: Where’s my water going? Am I applying too much? What return am I seeing?”

The system is designed to be easy to use and scale.

Farmers can start small and expand as needed, backed by WSB’s local support.

“You don’t need to be a computer expert to benefit from this. It’s about practical results in the paddock,” Corrie added.
