Grains Research and Development Corporation is hosting a Farm Business Update in Kimba next month.

The program features a lineup of topics identified as priorities by grain growers and advisers in the region.

Kimba will host one of two updates that week, on Wednesday 1 July, before it heads to Kadina the next day.

The Farm Business Updates facilitate the adoption of innovative and leading-edge farm business practices that drive high performing farms.

Topics will be ‘Making Better Decisions’, ‘Resilient People, Resilient Business’ and ‘Investment Focus – Infrastructure and Tech’.

Bill Long of Ag Consulting Co and Phil Guthrie from 3EC will speak in the first topic about the application of artificial intelligence in farm management decision-making.

‘Resilient People, Resilient Business’ will include high performing farm businesses from Oli Le Lievre from Humans of Agriculture and filling your silo by Steph Schmidt of Farm Life Psych.

The final topic will be hosted by James Hillcoat from Pinion Advisory, and talk about building storage to manage input supply risk, and whether it is worth it.

In addition, it will also include a talk on precision weed management tech and assessing the risk and reward, with Megan Star of Star Economics – plus special guest local growers Tristan Baldock and Andrew Baldock.

The Kimba event will take place at Kimba Football and Netball Club, North Terrace, from 9.30am to 3.15pm – doors open at 9am.

It is free to attend, but registration is required for catering purposes.

The update will include morning tea, lunch and a workbook.
