Total clearance pleases Morley

Morley Poll Merino Stud principal Leonie Mills was pleased to have a total clearance of the 40 Merino rams offered for auction at its on-property sale last Friday.

On top of that Morley Stud sold an extra 20 rams to Willippa Pastoral, of Hawker, after the sale at the Cleve stud.

Leonie said Willippa Pastoral had already bought 14 rams in the main auction.

The top-priced ram on the day went to Mark Siviour and Amy Kerley of Rabbit Ag, Murdinga, for $2600.

They also bought another ram in the auction.

Another bulk buyer was Siviour’s Glenowen Pastoral, of Cleve, with seven, while Ungarra farmers SC & LE Snodgrass bought five.

DJ & SJ Dolphin, of Warramboo, bought three rams, as did TD & KA Kaden, of Cleve, while JP & KK Beinke, and MP & RL Deer, all of Cowell, and MG & HI Siviour each bought two sires.

Rams sold to an average of $1240 – which was on par with the 2024 stud average.

Leonie said she was pleased with the outcome.

“I was pleased with the results and I think we were only back about $10 on last year’s average,” she said.

“We were expecting it and kept the numbers low because we know that people had to cut back their stock.

“We are looking forward to people building back up their sheep with the improving season and the price has improved out of sight.”
