Grain leaders program open for entry

A leading national grain farming advocate is searching for 10 participants to take part in a national development program.

Applications are now open for GrainGrowers’ Australian Grain Leaders Program (AGLP) – a year-long program for emerging industry leaders.

The program provides professional development training equipping participants with the skills required to help drive the industry’s future development.

Now in its 18th year, a total of 148 people have completed the program, including 27 South Australians.

GrainGrowers chief executive officer Shona Gawel said since its inception, the program had successfully tapped into the enthusiasm and passion of emerging leaders across the grains industry.

“It has been fantastic to see the journeys our alumni have taken – on the farm, in their communities, in so many different fields of endeavour,” she said.

“The strength of the AGLP program however is what participants recognise within themselves throughout the program.

“We are now looking for the next group of participants, and if you are keen to invest in yourself, I would encourage you to step forward and apply.”

The course is highly customised and includes face-to-face group workshops, field visits, coaching sessions, training and integration with industry participants and events.

Participants will be challenged to learn about leadership, about themselves and about others, applying the knowledge and skills they develop in an individual project of their own making based on real enterprise or industry issues.

GrainGrowers covers participants’ costs, including travel and accommodation expenses.

“I hope growers and grain industry participants consider the opportunity and reach out to the GrainGrowers team if they would like to find out more,” Ms Gawel said.

“Our AGLP program is also facilitated by RuralScope, whose reputation is so strong for leadership development in agriculture.”

Applications for the program close on Friday, August 29.

An online information session will be held at 1pm on Friday, August 15.

For further information and to register for this session, visit the GrainGrowers website.
