Nantoura promises great day out

Nantoura Poll Merino Stud is preparing to host its annual ram sale – and touting a good feed and cuppa to top it off.

Inspection day is on Tuesday, August 19 from 10am to 3pm and sale day locked in for Tuesday August 26 – with the auction to start at 1.30pm.

Owner and chief executive officer Chris Prime said he hoped it would be a good opportunity to get people around each other.

“We invite our past, present and prospective buyers to come along, just for a chat, a catch up and to have a feed,” he said.

“There’s more important things than a ram sale going on at Eyre Peninsula at the moment. I think everyone’s in the same boat, everyone’s struggling a little bit and it’s a good day to get out and talk to people that have similar issues and talk about the funny things that are going on, and the not so funny things that are going on.

“Yes, we’ll have a ram sale, but I think that’s probably the least important bit of the day.”

Nantoura will have 80 rams available for auction and Mr Prime said he was confident in what the stud had produced.

“They actually look pretty bloody good considering what they’ve been through for 2025, one of the best lineups like we say each year,” he said.

“But then if we’re not going forwards we’re going backwards.”
