Allala happy as sale numbers rise

Allala Poll Merino Stud was pleased with its 2025 sale, which recorded a better average and top price than last year.

The stud’s 22nd annual on-property sale at Kapinnie drew mainly repeat buyers, with some new clients.

A total of 64 rams were on offer and 54 were sold during the auction, to an average of $1200 – beating the 2024 average of $1074.

Allala stud principal Vinnie Phelps said he was pleased with the sale results.

“I am very happy with the sale and outcome,” he said.

“I can’t really put it down to anything in particular – we always knew it would be a tough gig this year with the drought and there not being much money around.

“The bidding in the auction was strong.”

GA Jolly & Sons, Brooker, who have been buying from Allala for years, took home the top-priced ram at $3000.

This bettered the top price the stud paid 12 months ago by $400.

The Jollys were among those repeat buyers, alongside others such as AR&DA Arbon, Tooligie and Chickerloo Pastoral, Bramfield.

Given their knowledge of the Allala stud, these repeat buyers were among the volume buyers.

The sale was run by Nutrien Tumby Bay and Elders Cummins.
