A prescribed burn is planned at Sheoak Hill Conservation Park on Friday, weather conditions permitting.
The prescribed burn will take place along Cowell-Kimba Road.
It will start at noon and is likely to be completed by 10pm.
Flames and smoke may be visible within the burn area for several days.
The area to be burnt is 75 hectares, with the objective to create low fuel areas to reduce the risk to traffic on the road in the event of a bushfire.
Some service tracks in the park will have restricted access.
National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) crews will remain on site until safe.
NPWS conducts a statewide program of prescribed burns to reduce the spread and intensity of bushfires, protect communities and enhance biodiversity.
Prescribed burning is just one tool used to reduce fuel loads across strategic areas of public and private land.
Prescribed burns will only be carried out when it is deemed safe to do so and may be cancelled at short notice.
