Art with a view

Coffin Bay provides the perfect inspiration for an award-winning artist.

Lea Jericho loves to get immersed in her surroundings and translate that to the canvas.

Originally from Cummins, Lea started as an artist in 2007 through the Kaleidoscope art group in the small town.

She opened Reelview Gallery on the picturesque Coffin Bay esplanade in 2019.

The gallery features more than 50 originals and giclee prints, with her work taking inspiration from the natural surroundings of her backyard and the wildlife.

Lea’s artworks are referenced from one or many photographs that she has taken.

A unique artistic style sees her art extend beyond the boundaries of the painting itself or adding dimensional work.

“There is always more to the story than you can see,” Lea said.

Since 2014, her artworks have won two people’s choice awards, a hangers’ choice award, an honourable mention at the Port Lincoln Art Prize and one Kimba Art Prize people’s choice award.

“It is always an honour to know that people enjoy my work,” Lea said.

The gallery is open most weekends or a time can be arranged for people to check out her work.
