Charlton WAB meeting

The next meeting of Charlton Women in Agriculture and Business will be on Tuesday, September 2 at the Port Lincoln Senior Citizens’ Club on Hallett Place at 7.30pm. The guest speaker will be a spokesperson from Drakes Supermarkets. Visitors are welcome.

Memory Cafe

The next Memory Cafe in Cummins will be held on Wednesday, September 3 from 10am to noon in Cummins Sports Club (Cougars side). Regional dementia advisor Kylie Earl is presenting ‘Understanding Dementia’ – an overview of different types of dementia, diagnosis, planning ahead and how to support someone living with dementia. All are welcome to come along to gain knowledge about living with dementia, the available services and where to access support. Enjoy morning tea and catch up with friends. Free entry is possible through support from Cummins Lions Club and Cummins Op Shop.

Auxiliary meeting

The next meeting of the Ceduna Hospital and Village Auxiliary will take place on Thursday, September 4 at 10.30am at the Ceduna Anglican Church hall. After reaching the last fundraising target to buy a 522-litre, 60-capacity blanket warmer for the hospital, the meeting will discuss the next fundraising target, so come along with any ideas to contribute.

Father’s Day raffle and stall

Ceduna Hospital and Village Auxiliary will host its Father’s Day raffle and street stall on Friday, September 5 in front of the Ceduna Memorial Hall from 9am.

Meet the author

Karcultaby School Community Library will host author Katherine Jane on Tuesday, September 9 as she introduces her debut novel Sally, which has a strong Eyre Peninsula connection. Do not miss this chance to meet Katherine, hear about her journey writing and publishing the book. Come along from 10.30am for morning tea, followed by the author talk at 11am and then a light lunch at 12.15pm. RSVP for catering purposes to the library on 8626 3077.

Prostate Cancer Support Group

A discussion forum on prostate cancer will be held from 5pm to 7pm on Friday, September 12 at the Grand Tasman Hotel meeting room in Port Lincoln. Prostate cancer specialist nurse Janet Birkin will be in attendance. For further information, contact Ross Sharrad on 0439 282 242.

Wudinna & District AH&F Show

The Wudinna Showgrounds welcomes a massive day on Saturday, September 13 with horses in action, local craft and pavilion entries, shearing and poultry, as well as plenty of activities for kids, market stalls and live music.

Kimba AH&F Show

With plenty of pavilion sections, machinery displays, market stalls and kids’ activities, you cannot go wrong with having a day out at the Kimba Show on Saturday, September 20. There is something for everyone to enjoy.

Ceduna Oysterfest

Ceduna Oysterfest is a two-day feast celebrating the West Coast’s famous oysters, plus so much more, on the Ceduna foreshore, on Saturday, October 4 and Sunday, October 5. Entertainment, live music, kids’ activities and a fireworks display are highlights of the weekend.

Hall celebration

Port Neill War Memorial Hall is turning 100 and to mark the occasion there will be an open day on Sunday, October 5 from 10am to 4pm. Pop in for a look at the photo displays or stay for the day and catch up with friends. There will be morning and afternoon tea, plus a sausage sizzle for lunch. Port Kenny time capsule

The Port Kenny time capsule laid in 1988 will be opened at a special community gathering on Sunday, October 5 at the Port Kenny and District’s Sports Centre, uncovering memories and mementos from the past. The event will run from noon until late – everyone is welcome, with lunch and dinner available to buy. EFTPOS and bar facilities will be available. The time capsule will be opened at 2.30pm. Finish the long weekend on Monday, October 6 at the Yallunda Flat Showgrounds, where you will enjoy activities prioritising the country experience and lifestyle – including shearing, horse events and live music.

Cummins Show and Ag Fair

A fixture on the Cummins calendar for more than 100 years, the Cummins Showgrounds will host equestrian events, pavilion competitions and plenty of machinery to keep you enthused at the Cummins Show and Ag Fair on Saturday, October 11. Activities for the youngsters are also a hit.

Border Dash

Register now for the 35th annual Border Dash on Saturday, October 11. The iconic 13-kilometre run starts in Western Australia and crosses into South Australia to support the Royal Flying Doctor Service. After the dash, stick around for a barbecue and charity auction. Cleve Show

The Cleve Show on Saturday, October 18 is the final Eyre Peninsula show of the season, where kids can enjoy the fun activities and games on offer and adults can see all the staples of a country show.

Rodeo by the Sea

Streaky Bay will host the bulls, broncs and barrels once again at the popular Rodeo by the Sea event on Saturday, October 18 at Streaky Bay Racecourse. Gates open at 1pm and the main event starts at 4pm. The event is fully catered, with live music, retail vendors and free camping. Early bird tickets are online at rodeobythesea.com.au
