Port Neill War Memorial Hall is celebrating 100 years with a special open day for the community.

The hall will be open from 10am to 4pm on Sunday, October 5, offering free morning and afternoon tea, a sausage sizzle and displaying photos and memorabilia of the hall from days gone by.

Committee chairperson Louise McDonough said all were welcome to come along, saying the hall was still a staple in the community.

“CWA are our biggest users, taekwondo is held there, there’s a fitness club – CrossFit, they’re our main regular bookings,” she said.

“The school uses it for their school concerts and any activities where they need a big space.

“The Port Neill Progress Association uses it, we have the odd wedding and 21st birthday and then the football club do their big dinners there – it’s a real hub for our community.”
