There’s nothing like a warm pasty on a cold winter’s day and buying a few could help out the Arno Bay community.

Following on from the success of Arno Bay War Memorial Hall’s 2024 pasty drive – half a dozen volunteers are busy prepping vegetables and making pastry, ready to bake about 350 pasties on Sunday.

That’s the number that were sold in the hall committee’s inaugural pastry drive in 2024 and due to orders being a bit slower coming in this year, people can still order today and tomorrow.

Committee member Yvonne Britza said people could fill out an order form at Arno Bay Post Office, or contact herself – phone 0428 998 357 or Karen Newton – phone 0439 871 376.

“We do it as a committee and there’s not many of us,” Yvonne said.

In the past the hall’s only annual fundraiser has been catering at the Arno Day New Year’s Day event.

However, thanks to the successful drive last year, the committee was able to get fans installed in the hall, and there are always a few maintenance jobs and improvements which are needed.

The group are prepping the vegetables tonight and tomorrow and making the many batches of pastry needed.

The pasties will be made and cooked fresh on Sunday morning at the hall, and a couple of members’ homes, ready for collection from 11am until 2pm.

Pasties are $5 each or $55 a dozen and people can pay for their orders by direct debit to BSB: 105 106, account name: Arno Bay War Memorial Hall, putting their name and Pastry Drive as their reference.
