Telstra service proving popular

Cummins residents are among those taking up a new connectivity service.

South Australians can now enjoy Telstra’s Satellite Home Internet service powered by Starlink.

After a launch of satellite internet for enterprise customers last year, the Telstra home service has been popular, it said.

About 100 Australians have now purchased the service each week since it was launched, with a number of people from Cummins among those taking it up.

Low Earth orbit satellites are being used for the service and will help provide a new connectivity option for home internet access, allowing Australians who live in areas that struggle to access ground-based networks, a new broadband service option.

Through the use of the LEO satellites rather than traditional satellites, users can send and receive signals much faster, while it allows people to do voice and video calls on a more consistent basis.
