Two Grains Research Updates from Grains Research and Development Corporation will be hosted on Eyre Peninsula at the end of July.
The updates will take place at Cummins and Streaky Bay, giving Eyre Peninsula agronomists, consultants, researchers and growers the chance to see and discuss the latest in research and to network with their peers about how to apply new and relevant information to the latest farming systems.
At both updates there will be discussions on ‘Mice, reducing feed supply and improving control’ by Ben White of BM White, ‘Cycling and losses of N in the southern cropping system’ by Nigel Wilhelm from South Australian Research and Development Institute (SARDI), ‘Protecting your most perishable asset – latest understanding on grain storage’ by Mr White and ‘Pulse root disease – what are the issues and what are our options?’ from SARDI’s Blake Gontar.
In addition, at Cummins you can hear ‘Get best bang for buck on canola fungicides’ by Angela Van de Wouw from University of Melbourne.
A further topic at Streaky Bay is ‘Crop flowering calculator, an online tool to optimise sowing date for wheat, barley and canola’ by Jeremy Whish of CSIRO.
Both updates are free, but attendees are asked to register for catering purposes.
The Cummins session will take place on Wednesday 29 July at a location to be determined, with the Streaky Bay session at the Streaky Bay & District Community Complex on Thursday 30 July.
Both will run from 9am to 1pm.
