Chance to better understand ISCC requirements

Grain Producers SA (GPSA) is partnering with Pinion Advisory to help South Australian grain producers better understand and prepare for International Sustainability and Carbon Certification (ISCC) – including on Eyre Peninsula – following ongoing feedback the process can be difficult to understand and time-consuming.

The project, funded by the Grains Research and Development Corporation, aims to improve awareness and market readiness for ISCC certification by providing South Australian grain producers with practical support and clearer guidance.

GPSA chief executive officer Brad Perry said while many growers had already signed up to ISCC, feedback from producers highlighted challenges around understanding the requirements and the time commitment involved.

“Many grain producers recognise that sustainability certification schemes, like ISCC, are required for maintaining access to some international markets,” Mr Perry said.

“However, grain producers have told us that the process for some can be complicated and time- consuming, particularly when they are trying to navigate the requirements alongside the day-to-day demands of running a farm business.

“This project is about helping make the ISCC process easier and helping growers better understand what is required to meet the certification requirements.”

The initiative will begin with a series of informal free information dinners, designed to bring grain producers together with industry and market representatives to discuss ISCC and share experiences.

“These dinners are designed to start a practical conversation with grain producers about their

experiences with ISCC and what support they need,” Mr Perry said.

“From there, through the project three practical workshops will be run where growers can receive tailored advice and dedicate time to preparing their own ISCC certification requirements.”

There will be a Getting ISCC Ready Information Dinner at Cummins on Thursday 26 March at 6.30pm.

Attendance is free, but registration is required for catering purposes.
