Opportunities offered to improve flocks

Morley Poll Merino stud continues to invest in top-quality genetics – giving farmers the chance to further improve their flocks at the annual on-property auction.

Stud principal Leonie Mills said the focus continued to be on bringing in new blood to keep improving the Morley line.

“This year’s sale will see rams offered from Kollindale 220 (Pyramid Poll) from our AI (artificial insemination) program,” she said.

“We will also have available progeny from our new Gunallo family and Ramsgate sire.”

This year’s on-property auction will be held at 2pm on Friday, August 22 at 175 Morley Road, Cleve.

Leonie said that despite the very tough start to the season, the young rams had grown very well.

“We are thrilled with the quality of wool, which we are excited to show off at our on-property sale,” Leonie said.

“This year we will offer 40 rams by auction, with further available by private selection.

“We are acutely aware of how difficult this year has been thus far with many retaining lower numbers of breeding ewes.”

However, with the strong turn around in meat prices Morley is ready to support those producers looking to rebuild or maintain their flock numbers.

For any queries or for assistance from Morley with classing or the like, please do not hesitate to call Leonie on 0427 631 358.
